Minton Majolica Mushroom Tazza with Three-Frog Base, English, Dated 1868
About the Item
Minton Majolica Taza, molded as an inverted mushroom, the bowl interior glazed in orange, with three naturalistically modeled and glazed frogs around the stem, on a round, plant and rock-work base. Impressed marks to reverse: 'MINTON;' date cypher for 1868; design number '1109,' which corresponds to the entry, 'Tazza, Frog Support (M)' in the Minton Ornamental Shapes (i.e., Design books) and reprinted in J. Jones (pp., 343-377).*
