Yeoward William “Collection Crystal” English Goblet

About the Item

We kindly suggest you read the whole description, because with it we try to give you detailed technical and historical information to guarantee the authenticity of our objects. We have two other goblets identical to this one that we sell in pairs (posted on 1stdibs) Iconic and precious crystal chalice; it has been made from the highest quality lead crystal with a thickness that is thick enough to allow it to be ground deeper than normal, which allows the light to reflect in a much brighter and more brilliant manner; for this to happen, the geometry of the grinding has also been specially designed and executed. The glass is a delightful combination of intricate cuts and engravings and features some of the most beautiful motifs of the 18th and 19th centuries. Every detail of the decoration, such as the glittering star wheel, is cut entirely by hand, with hours of specialized labor required to complete each piece in the collection achieving a very high standard of quality. The glass was made in London, England, between 1995 and 1996 by the William Yeoward company, whose name it bears on the bottom (see photo), and is one of the most attractive designs in the "William Yeoward Crystal" Collection as it combines classic beauty with elegant style. Experience and synergies are the pure expressions of craftsmanship of the Yeoward workshop's Master Grinders, distinguishing them by their attention to detail that gives crystal purity and beauty; by meticulously performing the grinding, engraving, cutting, and finishing they are able to achieve very complex workmanship, full of wonderful harmony and extraordinary color effects making each artifact a work of art. William Yeoward is regarded as one of London's leading creative forces, he built a reputation as a style maker, retailer, and designer of beautiful home products. He was known for his sophisticated, elegant, and highly individual style. A man who cared deeply and strived tirelessly to perfect his craft and approached his entrepreneurial pursuits with passion and humor. After school, William embarked almost immediately on a career in interior design and retail, opening his first store on King's Road, Chelsea in 1985. William Yeoward met third-generation crystal designer and maker Timothy Jenkins, who immediately knew they shared the same passions and aspirations, and thus William Yeoward Crystal was born. The crystal was first shown in 1996 in London and was awarded "Best New Product" by the British magazine House & Garden. At the same time, the American magazine Elle Décor proudly announced that the collection embodied the "zenith in crystal creation," in January 2008 it was awarded a Royal Warrant of Appointment as a crystal supplier by His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales. William Yeoward Crystal has grown to become the most fascinating crystal in the world. The design behind this collection of lead crystal glasses is derived from antique crystal pieces made in England and Ireland during the 18th and early 19th centuries. Each William Yeoward piece is handcrafted, making many of the pieces collector's items that have an elegance and style that blend beautifully with antique and contemporary interiors. The goblet is in excellent condition. Measures diameter 10 cm, height 16 cm. For all our shipments we use special packaging materials (wooden crates, styrofoam, etc.) for maximum protection and safety of the objects.

Set of 6 French ground crystal liqueur glasses; crystal with a lead content of 30% was used in their execution; the high lead content, replacing calcium, found in ordinary glass, gives the crystal considerable hardness, exceptional transparency and a high refractive index; with the techniques of cutting, grinding and polishing, scrupulously performed by hand, extraordinary plays of light and reflections have been created; the shape of the glasses is classic but very refined and elegant, they have simple and delicate grinding, they have also been ground with precise and dense faceting to enhance the diamond refraction of light; were made in the Beaux...

  • Florentine Handcrafted Crystal Bottle Ground, Cut And Polished By Hand

We kindly suggest that you read the entire description, as with it we try to give you detailed technical and historical information to guarantee the authenticity of our objects. Exceptional and valuable whiskey bottle; has been made with a lead crystal of the highest quality with a high thickness in order to grind it deeper than normal, which allows the light to reflect in a much brighter and more brilliant way; in order for this to happen, the geometry of the grinding is also specially designed and executed. The bottle turns out to be much heavier than others on the market. We must at this point make an important clarification about the finishing of our bottle: towards the end of the 1960s, acid crystal polishing was devised in Germany; the object was immersed and rotated in a solution of sulfuric acid, fluoridic acid, and water and in a short time all the defects left by previous processes were eliminated; it was a fast, industrial operation that allowed costs to be lowered considerably, with discrete but not excellent results. This method is still used today for almost all crystal objects. But for our bottle, traditional hand polishing was used with cork wheels immersed in pumice and cerium oxide dissolved in water, which thanks to their abrasive and polishing action give the product a perfect polish. The squares of the bottle were individually polished one by one, as well as the horizontal and vertical grindings by two specialized craftsmen who took about two days of work, achieving a very high standard of quality on an artifact of inestimable value. The bottle was made between 1990 and 1995 by Moleria Locchi...
