11 Doulton Burslem Hand-Painted Signed Aquatic Theme Fish Plates, 19th Century

About the Item

A lovely set of 11 hand painted and artist signed plates with shaped rims and trimmed with raised paste gold. The interesting 10-pointed border creates a lovely framework around the central marine life subjects, each uniquely painted with different underwater scenes of different fish species. The subtle underlying palette is the soft green of the water. Dated 1891.
