French Faïence Longchamp Terre de Fer Hand-Painted Asparagus Plate

About the Item

A French earthenware, hand painted square asparagus plate, circa 1890-1910. A pair of Majolica glazed asparagus tips are shown at each corner. Floral sprays are strewn across the front of a mold with a deep sauce well. The rim shows a painted lined edging. Each plate in this pattern is different. Showing an impressed makers mark. Book reference – ‘Artichauts et Asperge in Barbotine’ by Maryse Bottero , pg. 59 Measures: 9.5 in. square. x 1.5 in. H Light wear to high points, a loss to the rear footing, the plate sits well.
