About the Item

We kindly suggest you read the whole description, because with it we try to give you detailed technical and historical information to guarantee the authenticity of our objects. Seductive red vase in Murano glass (Italy) blown according to the ancient technique of "rostrato"; a work of art of easy appreciation but of great scenic impact; the vase was obtained through a particular blowing and melting process called “colors in fire” ("colori in fuoco"ed in Venetian dialect "color en fogo"); copper oxide and gold chloride were added to the shapeless mass of molten glass to obtain a very intense ruby hue; extracted from the oven, the molten glass was blown by mouth with a special cane by a master glassmaker, who shaped it with special hot fascinating tools to give it the desired shape, then, very quickly, the master with small pliers, has provided to create different decorative spikes on the body of the vase; the whole process has to be realized in a very short time because of the high temperatures of the glass that reach 1000 degrees; this ancient workmanship, that requires a particular rapidity of execution, concentration and precision, is called "rostrato" or "spike"; then the vase was put in the tempering furnace where it cooled for many hours with wise slowness and patience; Then, completely free of heat, it was taken to the milling department where expert craftsmen proceeded to smoothing, finishing and finally to polishing. The technique of working "colors in fire" guarantees infinite durability to the color, which remains stable, unalterable, particularly vivid, homogeneous, and intense. The vase was created between 1960 and 1964 with experience and unparalleled skill by a great Murano master in a magical, fascinating and artistic place: a Murano artisan furnace. However, whoever was the creator, the realization of this vase confirms that the Venetian aptitude, celebrated over the centuries, for glassmaking, is an alchemical combination of the material developed by artisan intelligence with artistic intuition; since ancient times Venetian artisans protect and hand down the art of glass always giving us valuable and unique works of art that fascinate us for their beauty. The vase is in excellent condition. Measures diameter cm.29, height cm.44. For all our shipments we use special packaging materials (wooden crates, styrofoam, etc.) for maximum protection and safety of the objects.
