Regency Pair Cut Glass Covered Butter Dishes with Stands

About the Item

A very fine pair matching antique cut glass lidded butter dishes on matching stands dating from around 1825. The dishes are of wide rounded shape with narrow round cut bases with polished pontil marks which sit within the recess of the stands. The dishes have diamond and prism cut patterning to the bodies with raised leaf cut prism rims. The bowls have fitted covers with similar patterning and with star cut mushroom shaped finials. The stands are of shallow rounded form with prism star cut bases with polished central pontils and with a central recess with a wide flat rim with the same diamond and prism cut patterning and leaf cut edging as applied to the bowls and covers. A stunning example and part of a small collection of similar period glass originating from an estate in Mayfair, London. The glass is typically not marked. The bowls display well and are finely made display pieces which appear to have spent much of their life displayed in a glass display cabinet. Provenance: originates from a private collection from a house in Mayfair, London. In good condition with wear associated with age and use but no obvious defects. With wear to the underside of the foot commensurate with age and use.
