About the Item

A set of handblown early 18th century Oil and Vinegar Flacons. Following the French Court etiquette rules and a taste for luxury spreaded around Europe in the 18th century. Eating became not only a feast but also a ritual and display of wealth for the rich and famous. Expensive silverware, rare China and the finest glasware were a reflection of the taste and status of the elite. But also the middleclass imitated this customs. Local craftsmenshops were abundant and some of the most exquisite applied arts were made at this time. Italy, and especially Venice, became famous for their glaswork. These examples are a good example of the finest provincial made glasware at the time.
