Vintage Danish Modern EM77 Thermos by Erik Magnussen for Stelton, 1976

About the Item

This vacuum jug was designed by Erik Magnussen for the Danish Stelton manufacture in 1976. Cataloged under name EM77. It has been an award-winning design icon since 1977 and consistently one of Stelton's bestsellers. It is one of the company's best-selling designs in history. The EM77 has a patented cylindrical form with a hinged lid that allows one-handed pouring. In addition to the rocker stopper, it has a unique rocker plug. The Kelton flask opens automatically when tilted and the lid closes again after being put away. The jug is in the rare color of coffee with milk. Erik Magnussen was born in 1940 in Copenhagen. He graduated from the School of Applied Arts and Design where he received a diploma with a silver medal. For many years he worked for Bing & Grøndahl, and his recent work includes projects for brands such as Fritz Hansen, Franz Schneider Brakel, Royal Selangor, Licht & Form and Paustian. Erik Magnussen's designs are exhibited in museums around the world. He received the Lunning Award in 1967, and ten years later the 1st Furniture Award. In 1983, he was named Designer of the Year by the Danish Design Council, and his products were repeatedly awarded the ID Award by the Danish Society for Industrial Design. Erik Magnussen received the Bindesbøll Medal in 1996 and received fellowships from the Ole Haslund Fund, the Royal Jueweller A. Michelsen's Anniversary Fund and the Knud V. Engelhardt's Memorial Fund. In 1997, Erik Magnussen received the Red Dot award in the Design Innovations 1997 competition organized by Design Zentrum Nordrhein-Westfalen and won the Good Design Gold Prize awarded by the Japan Industrial Design Promotion Organization. The jug is in original vintage condition. Fully functional, it keeps warm for many hours. It has normal signs of use. The capacity is 1 liter.

  • Vintage Scandinavian TV Kanna Red Thermos by Carl-Arne Breger for Husqvarna
    By Husqvarna, Carl-arne Breger
    Located in Warszawa, Mazowieckie
This TV-Kanna Signatur thermos was designed in 1962 by Carl-Arne Breger for the Swedish manufacturer Husqvarna Borstfabrik. A thermos is made of orange-red plastic with a black bottom. The handle and lid are made of solid teak. The inlet is designed in such a way that a coffee or tea filter can be attached directly. Carl-Arne Breger was born on August 29, 1923 in Trelleborg. He died on January 15, 2009 in Malmö. He was a Swedish industrial designer who became famous for mainly designing plastic items. He was educated at Konstfack in Stockholm in 1943-1948. In 1953 he was hired as a designer for Stig Lindberg at the Gustavsberg porcelain factory. He designed, among others, the best-selling Gustavsberge model 525 sink and many everyday plastic items, such as a square bucket from which it was easy to pour water. In 1960, he won the Best Plastic Product of the 1950s, and Breger himself received the epithet Mr. Plastic. In 1959 he opened his own company Breger Design in Malmö. There he designed many objects that are design classics today that existed and still exist in many Swedish households. His most famous plastic product is a carved styrene water jug, which is a sought-after collector's item today. The Juice Press duo, designed for Gustavsberg in 1967, is another Breger classic purchased by the Museum of Modern Art. Breger called himself a master of versatility and created functional items. He was very pleased with the Diavox phone for LM Ericsson in 1975. It became Televerket's first standard push button telephone and was exported to many countries. Over the years, almost 3,000 products have left the drawing...
