The Chinese Export armorial porcelain oval dish with overall Bianco Supra Bianco has a central Rococo armorial coat of arms centered with three garlands with the motto "His Ornari Aut Mori" below. The armorial surrounded by scattered flowers and four shaped gilt bordered panels on the shoulder with two bouquets of famille rose flowers and two of fruit.
The motto translates as To be adorned with these, or to die, referring to the three wreaths in the coat of arms, woven of olive, laurel and oak leaves. The three leaves representing sapientia, doctrina ac rei militaris peritia, "wisdom, learning and military expertise."
The reverse with a bamboo band with fruit and flowers with scattered flowers to the top, bottom, and each side.
The gilt rim on the border now rubbed.
Dimensions: 16 1/2-inch-wide x 13 3/4 inches deep x 1 1/4 inches high

They are decorated in the neoclassical "Greek" pattern with classical figures and mythological scenes based on ancient Greek and Roman art.
The dramatic pattern shows a scene from Olympic history.
At the center, Cynisca wins the four-horse chariot race at the Greek Olympic Games in 392 BC.
She became the first woman to win at the Olympics.**
They are large, measuring 20" x 15.5" x 1.75" deep
Each rectangular platter is printed in blue with leaf and berry ground, radiating medallions, and urns containing classical scenes.
This was the first multi-scene pattern introduced at the Spode factory.

"Knowles, Taylor & Knowles (KT&K) was a pottery company in East Liverpool, Ohio from 1854 to 1931. The original owners were: Issac Knowles, John Taylor, (Issac's son-in-law) and Homer Knowles (Issac's son). The pottery produced all types of wares from yellow ware, ironstone, and semi-vitreous dinnerware, but it is best known for the light-weight, translucent Lotus Ware. Produced mainly in the 1890s, Lotus was meant to compete with the successful Belleek porcelain made in Ireland. High cost and breakage forced K&TK to halt production of Lotus. KT&K is not to be confused with Knowles China of Newell, WV. Even though Edwin M. Knowles of Knowles China was the son of Issac, the two companies operated independently of each other. A set of dishes made in Italy during the 80s, as attested by the date printed on the back of the plate, but inspired by 18th century porcelain, to be precise inspired by the "Saxon-style", a term which can be ascribed to the 18th-century Germanic tradition, according to which porcelain was made with reliefs similar to woven baskets.
This vintage dinner service is produced by a historic Italian manufacturer "Richard Ginori" founded in Tuscany, in Sesto Fiorentino, near Florence, of which Gio Ponti was creative director for 10 years.
After declaring bankruptcy in 2013, this historic porcelain factory, in operation since 1735, was taken over by the Gucci group which restarted the production of iconic pieces and novelties inspired by archive pieces of the company.
This set of dishes is a rarity as it is the result of an unusual combination that has the 18th century as its common thread, with the Rococo style, the scientific discoveries and the new botanical varieties resulting from the new trade routes of the companions of the Indies.
On the classic Richard Ginori series, i.e. the total white motif called "Vecchio Ginori" (currently put back into production by Gucci) always and exclusively produced in total white, a botanical print by Abraham Munting depicting an orange plant was printed.
Abraham Munting is a Dutch botanist famous for his unusual illustrations where plant species were depicted against a background of classic or pastoral landscapes, often floating in midair with little regard for perspective and relative sizes, in fact, the orange plant is not forced to inside the center of the plate but goes outside the predefined spaces wrapping it.
