Antique French Majolica Oyster or Seafood Serving Plates Set, 8 Pieces

About the Item

This set of antique oyster or seafood plates are signed by an unknown maker, and presumed to have originated from France and date to approximately 1880 and done in the period Victorian style. The plates are composed of majolica and have a series of impressed stylized scallop shells with a slightly raised platform in the center. The plates are glazed with a deep green with a gold ground and each is marked with an impressed "S" and "1" on the bottom.
