19th Century Jacob Petit Charles X Vase 1820

About the Item

France vase, signed under the rectangular base J.P. Jacob Petit: Paris,Belleville( France). Jacob Petit produced porcelain here from circa 1790. The products have been highly praised and show an individual style. But porcelain was also made in the style of Meissen; these pieces were marked with Elector's swords. Patents dealing with improvements to the formula of the porcelain paste and surface techniques were given notice of in England in 1853. In 1834 the factory incorporated the Fontainebleau porcelain factory. This vase was made (as can be seen from the signature) before its incorporation with Fontainebleau in 1834. This type of vase will be repeated over the years with different colors and finishes. In front we see classical figures, the reverse with birds and flower panels and raised on an attached dolphin-footed rectangular base.
