French, 19th Century
Height 5cm, diameter 35.5cm
The pair of plates are finely painted, one depicting two Arabic men on horseback in a landscape, and the other depicting a horseman with his dogs attended to by a servant. Each of the plates bears a monogrammed factory mark on its reverse side, reading 'Montereau B & Cie', along with an impressed mark with the letter 'A'.
