A rarely seen Palissy style Provençal majolica trompe l’oeil wall plaque made and signed by the potter A. Martin, from Vallauris, Cote d’Azur, France, Mid-Century Modern Era, circa 1950s. A heavy piece, a matte black glazed earthenware body, showing brightly colored, dimensional vegetables grown in the region of Southern France. A tomato, eggplant, ear of corn, radish, red pepper, French carrot, a leek, and a grape cluster sit raised on the surface. Signed A. Martin – Vallauris Measures: 9.5 in. diameter x 2 in. height Excellent.
