Bristol Delft Bianco-Sopra-Bianco Chinese Scene Pottery Plate

About the Item

A fine antique English Bristol Delft plate hand painted with a Chinese scene and dating from the mid 18th century. The pottery plate stands on a narrow unglazed foot rim and is of round shape with a flat raised rim. The centre of the plate is hand painted in polychrome with figure with a walking stick outside a Chinese pagoda style building within a tree landscape. The scene is set within a pattern painted border and the plate is applied with a bianco-sopra-bianco scroll and leaf design border applied around the raised rim of the plate. The plate is not marked. Provenance: Acquired in the British Art Market. In good condition with customary glaze fritting around the edge.
