An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian Newcastle sterling silver Fiddle pattern soup ladle; an addition to our silver cutlery collection. This exceptional antique Victorian Newcastle sterling silver ladle has been crafted in the Fiddle pattern. The Fiddle shaped handle terminal is plain and unembellished. This exceptional antique silver soup ladle features a rounded heel to the reverse of the bowl. Condition This antique Fiddle pattern silver ladle is an exceptional gauge of silver, excellent quality and in exceptional condition. The Hourglass pattern decoration is very sharp. Full hallmarks struck to the reverse are all very clear; the hallmarks are deeply struck due to the exceptional gauge of silver, apart from the maker's mark which has been determined as a strong probability as John Walton. Dimensions: length 32.7 cm /12.9" width of bowl 11 cm / 4.3" weight 8.6 troy ounces / 266g. Maker: John Walton. Date: 1846. Origin: Newcastle Upon Tyne, England.
