Early 20th Century English Folk-Art Farmer and His Wife Model
About the Item
Early 20th century folk-art farmer and his wife model
We are proud to offer an unusual hand carved folk-art model of a farmer and his wife sat on a cart pulled by two oxen. This item is hand carved from pine and crafted with found objects. The naïve figures are very tactile with the female’s head moving from side to side. Articulated arms, and the carts length can be adjusted. These figures do not stand alone but once perched up again the cart balance fine. Likely to have been made by a farmer or the like considering the subject matter and love that has gone into making them. A great piece of English folk art and artistic as a standalone item.
Size in inches: H 10” x W 25” x D 9”
Period: Early 20th century
Material: Pine
Origin: English
Completely solid in structure and form, there is fading across all the paint and natural patination in sections. The paint on the oxen and cart is crackled and aged well. Its exceedingly difficult to photograph all the areas in this piece, therefore we strongly suggest reviewing all the photos provided as part of this advert and propose questions where sections are unclear to avoid disappointment.
