  • 19th Century Antique Gothic Revival, Gilt Bronze Six Candle Church Chandelier
    Located in Lisse, NL
Stylish and glorious Gothic church candle pendant with a great look and feel. The amount of work that went into making this Gothic chandelier is almost unimaginable in this day and age. Before you can start to cast the individual pieces (and there are many in this chandelier), you have to first carve them out of wood or some other type of hard material. That alone will take days if not weeks. From all the handcrafted parts that, together, will make this chandelier, you must then make molds. All the molds must then be filled with liquid bronze. After that, all the surplus material from the castings must be removed and all pieces must be finished and gilt individually. Finally all pieces must be fitted together by drilling small holes and using small nuts and bolts (in those days also handcrafted). After reading this, you will understand why they don't make 'em like this anymore. It would simply cost a fortune. The number of Gothic elements in this antique candle chandelier, combined with their beautiful shapes and patina make this church relic an absolute joy to own and look at. Obviously the guilding has faded over the years, but that is part of the character and the look and feel of this great antique. This Gothic revival church chandelier is in excellent and original condition and it is definitely ready for immediate usage. This is no large chandelier, but it will look great wherever you decide to have it. Especially with the candles burning in the evening, the look and feel of this antique is second to none. Thanks to the original and also perfect condition 'Gothic crown...
