20th Century Italian Murano Glass Pendant, Chandelier by Seguso Vetri D’Arte

A vintage Mid-Century Modern Italian pendant made of hand blown clear Murano glass, designed and produced by Archimede Seguso and Seguso Vetri D’Arte, in good condition. The detailed round flower vase chandelier is supported by a brass beam, featuring a three light socket. The wires have been renewed. The Seguso Familly is an Italian Murano glasswork, manufactor founded by Antonio Filius Seguxi in 1397 Venice, Italy. Until today, the Seguso Family is able to trace their uninterrupted lineage of glassmakers back over six centuries. In 1605, they were added to the Libro d’Oro of Murano. By 1792 the Seguso Family crest was imprinted on the osella coin of Venice. The Seguso Family is one of the most prestigious, historical and valued glass manufacturers in Venice.

At an early age, Seguso started learning the traditional glassmaking techniques, were he developed his skills. Seguso is mostly know for crating glass sculptures. Archimede Seguso was an Italian glass manufacturer and a designer born in 1909, in Murano, Italy and passed away in 1999. At the age of 11, Seguso started training and working as a glassmaker at his father's glass company. Later on, circa in 1930, he took over the family business, named Seguso Vetri d'Arte. During this time he studied the 16th century styles, such as filigrana glass, colorless blown glass, genetic manipulation of glass canes to give the form of linear patterns and plume glass, delicate, fine feather-plume glass shapes. in 1946, he founded his own glass manufacturer company in Murano, Vetreria Artistica Archimede Seguso.
