Pair of Italian Floor Lamps by Unknown Designer, 1950s, Gino Sarfatti Style
About the Item
These floor lamps have their base as a curved iron tube with a loop that supports a big glass orb wired from below. The light source is smooth and diffused, ideal for creating a cozy mood.
The authorship is still on research by our team, but it has a lot of similarities with Gino Sarfatti's lamps for Arteluce, Italy, 1952. The lamps were produced and acquired in Europe. The Italian Gino Sarfatti (1912 –1985) is known as the "Master of light." After a brief spell in marine engineering and entirely self-taught, he developed nearly 700 light fittings between the 1930s and 1970s.
The years that followed World War II were replete with enormous changes in all life aspects. People experienced a new optimism, filled with the promise of the future. New materials and technologies, many of which had been developed during wartime, helped free design from tradition — encouraging sculptural aesthetics and seeking lower prices for mass-produced objects.
This item received an electrical overhaul and is in complete working order, using 127V as standard. It can be adjusted to meet different countries' lighting standards (on request). Consult our team to know more.
