About the Item
Nostalgia is one of the most powerful feelings we have. So strong that it can take us back in time.
After visiting a tradional lamp manufacturer in São Paulo, I felt like I had traveled in time. To transform this feeling into a product, I looked at the creative process and decided to experience this time travel by developing a product through letters. Along ten weeks, my colleague and I exchanged letters in which we discussed ideas for the product. We were living in different cities at the time, so this process took us through a new dimension of space and time while collaborating remotely.
The design materializes this temporal and physical displacement of nostalgia. It mixes inspiration from jazz musical instruments and the golden 20s with contemporary multifunctionality: a floor lamp that becomes a wall lamp, and vice-versa.
In 2022, the Postal lamp received an honorary mention in the "Museu da Casa Brasileira" (Museum of Brazilian Home) in São Paulo, the most prestigious design competition in Brazil.
