Late 18th C. Pair of French Brass Repoussé Wall Sconces, 35.25" Tall

About the Item

A French pair of brass repoussé single-light wall sconces from the late 18th century. This antique pair of wall decorations from France, Circa 1780-1800, have been created in brass with an ornate pierced repoussage in floral motif. Each sconce has a single arm which projects outward from it's lowest center section, wrapped in a curled flower, with single light hidden at its backside, ready to house a lighting element. Please note that these fixtures are not wired. These late 18th century French wall sconces stand approximately 3 feet in height, together making a fabulous statement flanking a a doorway or adorning a larger wall.

    A French pair of 19th century sconces mounted on shapely carved and painted wood back-plates. This antique pair of sconces from France have been fashioned from 19th century brass/metal fixtures consisting of elaborately designed metal plaques, metal backplates, and a three-arm light fixture in leaf motif with metal flower petal wrapped bobèches, which have been mounted on 20th century wooden plaques. The carved wood plaque are shapely with scalloped top sides and rounded bottoms, and have a muted green finish which looks quite nice with the patina of the brass and metal.
