Pair of French Early 19th Century Louis XV Style Ormolu Two-Arm Sconces
About the Item
A most attractive pair of French early 19th century Louis XV style ormolu two arm sconces. Each sconce has a French Revolution theme on the tapered back plate. The back plate is richly decorated by a mount with flags behind a full armor, while at the top is a soldiers helmet, in front of additional flags. At the top are impressive drums and a rams head. The two 'C' scrolled arms are designed with richly chased acanthus leaves leading to the circular saucer with additional leaves and a rounded candle cup above. Very unique design.
