Italian Vintage Guido Gambone Ceramic Table Lamp

About the Item

A tall Italian ceramic table lamp designed and made by Guido Gambone (1909-1969), an Italian ceramic artist based in Florence, circa 1950s. The stoneware lamp base is covered with the artist's signature "volcanic" blue glaze with typical texture surface. On the front, it has a painted female andromorphic figure wearing a skirt complying with the slender pottery shape. Colored dotes and lines fill the figure with an abstract and spontaneous spirit, a quality the artist is celebrated for. The base is marked with the donkey insignia and also inscription "Gambone" and "Italy". We believe this piece was originally made as a lamp base instead of an adaptation. The lamp is rewired and befitted with a new silk string shade and is ready to be enjoyed. The shade is 10" in diameter while the lamp base is 6.6" in diameter at its widest.
