"Pomona, Leda and the Swan, " Pair of Rare Art Deco Porcelain Luminaires by Lenox

About the Item

The only examples we have ever seen, this extraordinarily rare pair of creamy-white porcelain luminaires featuring Leda and the Swan on one side and Pomona on the other, internally-lit with chandelier bulbs, was designed by Geza de Vegh for the famed Lenox porcelain works in Trenton, New Jersey. Renowned for its fine, semi-translucent china wares for the home, Lenox also produced a series of sculptures by de Vegh, all very scarce, but the rarest production of all may be these table top torcheres or luminaires. When lit, the porcelain takes on a lovely, golden hue, and the relief sculpture comes alive even more. The porcelain is mounted on brass bases patinated with an old-bronze finish.
