19th Century French Napoleon III Octagonal Repousse Brass Beveled Overlay Mirror
About the Item
Created in France, circa 1870, the elegant antique wall mirror is octagonal in shape and decorated with intricate repousse decor around the frame; it includes a large vase cartouche at the pediment filled up with different fruit and flanked with dove birds perched on top. A similar vase with similar motifs at the base. The center mirror features the original beveled mercury glass with inset smaller mirrors around the periphery; it is further embellished with Roman female faces around the frame. The Napoleon III wall mirror is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns a rich patinated gilt finish throughout the frame. A wonderful addition to a powder room or an entryway.
