Antique 19th-Century Gadrooned French Gold Leaf Gilt Louis Philippe Mirror
About the Item
This beautiful antique mirror was made in Southern France in the mid 19th century. It has the upper rounded corners that are typical for Louis Philippe mirrors. The mirror frame has a detailed gadrooned profile and a classic pearl beading surrounds the glass. The mirror is decorated with an ornate crest. It has a central blazon flanked by floral garlands. The mirror frame is partially gold leaf gilt and partially gold painted. The whole was polished and patinated. Slight variations in gold tone and the red bole undercoat give the piece great definition and an antique appearance. The silver nitrate silvered glass is original as is the pine back cladding that protects the glass. The mirror plate shows a few marks and spots as one would expect on a mirror plate this old. The mirror is in great authentic condition and is ready to be hung.

- Condition:Repaired: Small repairs to the cracks in the upper rounded corners were made as well as the base. Wear consistent with age and use. The back cladding and glass were removed the whole piece was gently cleaned of 150 years of dust. The glass was reinserted and the mirror is now ready for use.
