Elegant Louis XVI Style Giltwood Cushion Mirror, 19th C with Mask of Minerva
About the Item
The mask of Minerva with radiating leaves and bell flowers at the crest of
the en chapeau cornice continues with bellflower garlands and foliate
carving over the mirror plate and terminates in glorious scrolls of acanthus
and bellflowers. The crest is supported by a rectangular mirror with a frame
of gadrooning and inner frame of ribbon and bead molding joined by shells
and scrolls at the corner. The base of the mirror is flanked by scrolls and
draping bellflowers. Clear mirror plate.
