About the Item

The term Florentine style refers to the architecture and formal language in Florence / Italy during the Renaissance period. Furniture from this period is characterised by the heavy use of gilded wood and rich ornamentation of the carved frames.
Vienna has a rich culture of mirror manufactories, which also reached a peak particularly during the period of the Wiener Werkstätten. Josef Hoffmann and also Dagobert Peche were influenced by the arts and crafts. Especially in the square format, beautiful designs were created.
