Oogi mirror, by Vadim Garine, is a unique piece made of mixed media and tempera and gold leaf. The base is in colored sanded wood. A certificate of authenticity is provided by the gallery. Vadim Garine was born in 1970 in the Tian-Chan, on the foothills of the Himalayas in the border of China and Kazakhstan. Early in his life the artist met Archimandrite Zenon, an internationally known iconographer monk, which had a crucial meaning later in his artistic life. He learned about different ancestral techniques from him, including tempera, encaustic, gilding. In 1996, Vadim Garine moved to France. His visit to the Art School of restoration allowed him to broaden his knowledge in ancestral techniques and so he opened his own atelier of creation and restoration. While restoring the gilding of the Cathedral of Chambéry from 1999 to 2005, Vadim received his first order of an Icon for the Church of Colombier Sonnieux, and later for the Church of Megève. He began to paint 700m2 fresco for the Church of the Monastery of St Michel du Var, and the chapel of the Transfiguration of Entrecasteaux. He teaches at the Philocalia Institute. He exhibits his creations using mainly materials such as wood, paint, cardboard, gold and aluminum in international galleries. Recently, in 2020, he made an impressive panther sculpture for Cartier Dubai. In 2021, the artist take part in the Bettencourt Prize competiotion for the Intelligence of the hand, for which he was named 2019 revelation of the year.
