Giant Hans Hedberg Ceramic Egg Boxes

About the Item

13" and 10" ceramic egg sculptures with glazed surfaces that mimic actual eggs. Very pop meets organic modernism. The larger one is about the biggest egg box Hedberg made. Hans Hedberg was Swedish, but studied ceramics in Venice; he was the first non-Italian accepted into the prestigious Italian ceramics academy. Upon opening his studio in Biot France, Hedberg gained renown for his innovative glazes and oversized natural forms. Picasso, Matisse, and Chagall were among the artists who studied ceramics in his studio. Both eggs are signed with HH. Larger egg is $7500, smaller egg is $4500.
