Vintage WWII Compreg Propeller Blade by ERCO

About the Item

A vintage original WWII Compreg constant speed wood and brass propeller blade by Engineering and Research Corporation (ERCO) of Riverdale, Maryland, circa 1940s. Due to the wartime shortage of aluminum, these were built primarily of hard wood. The ERCO propeller uses a 2B20 hub and was used on airplanes such as the Stearman and Stinson V-77. The blades were carved from a laminated, compressed, impregnated block of wood and were stamped with the "Compreg" label. Brass covers the tips and leading edge of this propeller. A steel alloy ferrule was attached permanently to the blade and allowed the connection between the wooden blade with the Standard Hamilton controllable pitch hub. The propeller is in very good vintage (it appears there is a sliver of wood missing from the blade, please see pictures) condition and measures 7.5"W x 5.5"Dx 44.5"H. It can stand on its own to make a very impressive display piece. with gorgeous wood grain! These Props are becoming harder and harder to find and especially in this condition; super rare and unique piece of WWII history!
