About the Item
A lovely leatherbound 4 volume work by William Morris( 1834-1896) the famous British designer and poet, entitled "The Earthly Paradise" published in 1905 by Longmans, Green and Co. London, New York and Bombay. The set is beautifully bound in 3/4 brown leather with marbleized covers and endpapers, the spines with 5 gilt-tooled raised bands the top edges gilt. The Earthly Paradise is an epic poem retelling various myths and legends from Greece and Scandinavia. Originally published in 1868, the poem recounts in 12 parts the search for a land of everlasting life. This particular set was bound by Nor-Rem bindery and is stamped thusly on the inside covers.
