Edgar Brandt was born in Paris in 1880 and studied at the Vocational School of Vierzon.
In 1925, BRANDT took part in the International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts. Following the success of the Salon, the same year, he inaugurated his gallery at 27 boulevard Malesherbes. He exhibits there his creations of artistic ironwork, furniture, sculptures, lighting and decorative objects, but also the creations of other artists with whom he collaborates (Daum, Lalique). The BRANDT gallery will be the first decorative art gallery in Paris.
BRANDT is considered the greatest exponent of Art Deco ironwork.
He died in Collonge-Bellerive on May 8, 1960.
