19th Century New England Painted Wood Sea Shell Folly

About the Item

A rare and likely unique five tier shell folly in the form of a pyramid or temple filled with sea shells and coral. All hand carved and hand painted black with red base paint showing through giving it a wonderful surface and patina. Each tier with four column supports and four finials, the top with an urn form finial. This piece from and old Maine estate was clearly made with love. Quintessential New England folk art item. Measures: 25 inches tall 10.75 square.
