About the Item

Pair of altar fragments or niches made of carved pine wood that are decorated with a series of important carvings with lots of plant-themed volume, scrolls, ropes, architectural details, cloths, etc., arranged symmetrically around the arch of half a point that acts as the central organizing element of the work and a shell located in the upper auction. This type of pieces were used in the creation and construction of altars in the churches, being possible that they present them niches were in an altar stood out by their measures and the quality of their size. Although it was an element used in architecture before, the Solomon column is a more known and habitual piece in the Baroque, especially since its use by Bernini in the canopy of St. Peter's Vatican (completed in 1633).
