Victorian taxidermy ebonised mounted elephant ear.
About the Item
Victorian taxidermy ebonised mounted elephant ear.
A rare Victorian taxidermy ebonised mounted elephant ear. This item is very rare due to its subject matter, presentation and accompanying Cites Article 10 certificate. The framed artifact also has a brass stamp at its base which states (The Walls Have Ears). If you are based outside of the EU another license will need to be obtained for export. We have never seen or had an item of such unusual subject matter in our store, the item is very well presented as shown in the photos provided. In our opinion we see this as a piece of art as the message (The Walls Have Ears) makes this item quite special and highly collectable if somewhat controversial.
Dimensions: H 50″x W 39″ x D 1.5″ of frame
Item Condition
This item is completely solid in structure and form. Aged wear and tear in the form of dryness across the ear is expected due to its age, presented in a mint condition glass ebonised wooden frame. Please view all the photos (especially close ups). The ear is very old as you can imagine and therefore is discoloured and stained in areas shown. The backing of the mount also has light staining as the close ups aim to show.

- Early 20th Century European Clock Tower Automaton FiguresLocated in London, GBEarly 20th century European clock tower automaton figures We are proud to offer an extremely rare set of European clock tower automaton figures, in the form of Persian / Turkish male dressed figures. Dated from the early 20th century, hand carved from wooden sections and detailed in gesso and paint. In completely original condition, later these figures have been secured to a 19th century ebonized wooden base for display purposes. These figures still have their original mechanisms in place, the metal rods extended from their backs, once pulled raise both hands and head, the mechanism is simple and on a pulley system. It is likely these figures would have been part of a larger group, which would have been animated once the clock tower struck upon the hour. This is the first time we have ever been able to obtain artifacts of this nature, and they are exceedingly rare in completely original form.
