Infinity Square Marquetry 4-Panel Screen in 1, 200 Year-Old Bog Oak
Located in Hoboken, NJ
Veneer is sawn 1/16" thick from a rare 1,200 year bog oak board discovered in the rivers of Eastern Europe. Having a range of color from near black on one edge to nutty brown on the other. Marquetry squares have the dark color either on the edge or in the center in an alternating pattern and this screen displays the same marquetry squares on both sides. The screen is an ideal display of this quilt-like design. Designs can be adapted to other forms- leave it to your imagination- We welcome commissions More history on our bog oak: Three hundred years ago a Turkish ship laden with bog oak logs dug from a marsh near the Dnieper River was sunk in a battle with Russian soldiers. The logs, carbon dated at 1200 years old, stayed on the river bottom for another 300 years until recently recovered by divers searching for WW II souvenirs. Minerals from the river water...

Vintage Wrought Iron Adjustable Display Easel / Painting Stand in Romantic Style
Located in Lisse, NL
Hand-forged in the midcentury era easel stand. If you are looking for different than normal and decorative at the same time then this vintage wrought iron easel could be perfect for you. Hand-forged out of iron, casually painted white and decorated with stylized metal flower brackets, this highly practical and open design easel brings just that extra bit of 'joie de vivre' that your living space or gallery might need. It is very easy to fold open and it stands perfectly strong and firm on its circular, flat metal feet. The chain holding the backrest in place, makes it perfectly safe also. In our images all the stylized flowers that hold the paintings are on the easel, but you would normally only use two for holding one painting. However, there is the possibility of having more paintings or drawings (or menus) on display. By unscrewing the butterfly nuts...

Arts and Crafts Coromandel Folding Screen w. Embossed & Gilt Leather Decoration
Located in Lisse, NL
Unique and highly decorative, work of art folding screen. Some will call this amazing and practical size folding screen Arts and Crafts and some will call it Classical Art Nouveau. If you are into applied arts from the turn of the century then the sheer quality of the workmanship and the beauty of this unique screen is all that really matters. The amount of work that went into making this intricate piece is amazing and the result is breath taking. The embossed leather panel in the middle is signed M.J. Slager and as so often is the case we cannot find anything on this artist. When you look at the beauty, the detail and the overal workmanship it is unbelievable that such a skilled artist did not go on and have a career. In this case, maybe the first world war had something to do with it. The outer frame of this three-piece screen are made of the most beautiful, solid coromandel and they come with hand-carved leaf finials on top. The embossed leather panels have the most beautiful and intricate motifs. The base paint on the leather panels is brown and thanks to this layer of paint, the gilding on top still is in perfect condtion. The dark color of the base paint also makes the gilding stand as beautifully as it does. The striking leather panels are fitted in the frames by remarkable and scalloped macassar borders. Overall there are a few truly minor imperfections, but it is safe to say that this unique and stunning Arts and Crafts folding screen...
