Victorian Wicker Ornate Two Tier Beaded Magazine Rack

About the Item

Rare two tier beaded High Victorian Magazine rack with curlicues, pinwheel sides and woven ball tops. The bottom of this exceptional piece is an open basket weave with bead and stick sides on all sides, the top two forming diamond shape beading front and back. Pinwheels and curlicues abound. It is a delight to see.

  • Condition:
    Refinished. Wear consistent with age and use. Minor losses. One side curlicue is loose and the bottom shelf is missing a small piece of weave. Over the years it has been repainted though not heavily repainted. The condition is very clean and nice.

    Part of a large collection of ornate Victorian wicker that was collected over the years by a Senator's wife. This rolled woven arm loveseat has wicker curlicues in the open areas under the side arm rests. Across the back are alternating lattice weaving and woven portions. The woven skirt comes from the top of the back leg to a mid-point on the front leg and returns to a shorter curved skirt in the center front. It is a delightful example of a late Victorian love seat.
