Silk Wall Mat Depicting a Painting by Wassily Kandinsky

About the Item

Small hand-knotted wall carpet in China with silk weft, warp and fleece, refined in workmanship and colors, reproduces a work by Wassily Kandinsky (Moscow 1866 – Neuilly-sur-Seine 1944) Russian naturalized French painter, who was a forerunner and founder of abstract painting. Abstract art makes clear the fact that the great work is the one that does not imitate any object, but reveals with the utmost clarity the inner need that the artist feels after immersing himself as much as possible in all the things of the world in order to grasp their essence. According to Kandinsky, the artist is in fact "the one who possesses a stimulating prophetic force, capable of exerting a broad and profound influence". He is more in contact with the pulsating life of the spirit than the viewer is and restores the life force of the soul to the latter and to reality. Art touches the universal sensitivity of the spirit, which every artist helps to enrich with the form that is closest to him. Therefore, according to Kandinsky, it is necessary "to consider right any form that is the external expression of an internal content"; given that "the most important thing about the problem of form is whether or not form springs from an inner necessity".

A stunning Tibetan rug in checkerboard design. This traditional checkerboard rug design is typically found on antique rugs called Khaden. It describes a small sized rug of about 3 x 6 ft that was used in Tibet to decorate columns or seat pad. Often these Khaden rugs had Lotus design, Dragons or Tiger stripes. Many of them were made in a town called Kampa Dzong in Tibet. Our collection of Tibetan rugs offers new, vintage and antique Tibetan rugs. The displayed rug is made of 50% Tibetan hand spun wool and 50% fine Chinese mulberry silk. Total pile height about 1/2-inch, Knot density 60 Tibetan knots per square inch. This rug has a fantastic feel, very soft and smooth. We can reproduce this design in sizes up to 45 x 16 ft on order. Other color combinations are possible. Goes great with Art Deco or Hollywood Regency interior design, but will be an eye catcher in any room, no matter if it is a living room, dining room or bedroom. Interior designers welcome. Very fine wool and silk quality. Current production of the Djoharian Design...
