19th Century Persian Kerman Lavar in Floral Pattern in Red, Pale Yellow, Black

A beautiful Kerman Lavar rug with a central medallion design from the late 1800s in pale yellow, red and black colors. The main field is in a pale yellow color with the corner spandrels in red. The rug has a floral design in red, pale yellow, light blue, and cream colors. The border is in a pale yellow/cream color with flower design throughout. There is a central medallion in red and black colors. Lavar is a village near the city of Kerman on the edge of the great desert in South East Persia. Lavar carpets are world-renowned for their beauty in design and colors used which this carpet well represents. The village of Kerman is located at the edge of the great desert in SE Persia and was on the ancient silk road. It is known for some of the most beautiful and colorful rugs that were woven in Persia. The weavers used the color and flower designs in rugs to bring some color and nature’s beauty to the dry desert environment that they lived in.
