Antique Russian Area Rug Kazak Design
About the Item
Antique Russian area rug handwoven from the finest sheep’s wool. It’s colored with all-natural vegetable dyes that are safe for humans and pets. It’s a traditional Kazak design handwoven by expert artisans. It’s a lovely area rug that can be incorporated with virtually any home interior design. It has a dimension of 6'9" x 8'8" which works well for living rooms, hallways and bedrooms.
Kazak weaving, unlike most Persian and Oriental rugs are not associated with specific tribes or people. Different weavers from the Caucasus region contributed to the development of this rug design, particularly the women from various communities in the area. Kazak rugs also differed from traditional Caucasian carpets as they were considered more modern. The weavers also used rich colored dyes such as deep red and indigo as opposed to the blacks and grays commonly used.
