Antique Regency Oak Scroll Armchair, Early 19th Century Elbow Chair
About the Item
ANTIQUE ELBOW CHAIR
A handsome and generous chair made from solid oak with peg joints, carved scrolling arms, a shaped backrest, a solid seat and legs united by an ‘H’ stretcher.
Simple stylish lines with a mix of the elegance of Regency design and a provincial, well-made country piece.
The chair is largely in good vintage order, the joints in the legs, stretcher back etc. are all very tight and strong. There is a slight give in the arms and at some point in its life, one of the arms has broken and been repaired. The oak has a lovely natural patina and a warm honey colour.
