Chuza Isu low chair by Junzo Sakakura for Tendo Mokko, circa 1960

About the Item

The Chuza Isu chair was designed by Daisaku Cho while enrolling at the Junzo Sakakura Architect & Associates in the 1960's. The contrast between the straight legs and the design of the back and the seat that draws an organic curve is attractive. Compared to the iconic Teiza Isu low chair, the high seating surface has a shallow slope and is designed to stand up easily. If you leave your body on a thick sheet, you can experience a relaxed sitting comfort. More than 60 years since its creation, this masterpiece harmonizes with both Japanese and Western spaces.
