Pair of Armchairs F300 by Pierre Paulin

About the Item

Pierre Paulin designed the F300 chair in 1964 for Artifort (Netherlands). The F300 series by Pierre Paulin is made of a molded polyurethane shell. The legs are protected by transparent PVC caps. This chair has a free inlay shell that is upholstered with its original faux leather. The faux leather section is removable so the armchair can be used in outdoor. The dimensions are 80 x 70 x 58 cm. Wear consistent with use and age as you can see on the pictures 7 and 8 Pierre Paulin was born on 9 July 1927 in Paris and died on 13 June 2009 in Montpellier. His talent lies in a shift from decoration to design, which was quite characteristic of the post-war period in France, and in the materials used to make the chairs. These are upholstered in foam and covered in jersey. He is one of the "greatest designers of [his] time" and the subject of numerous books and retrospectives. After studying with the designer Maxime Old, he joined the design office of Marcel Gascoin. In 1953, success came with the Salon des arts ménagers, and he began a collaboration with Thonet France. In 1953, he exhibited his first creations in the "Le Foyer d'aujourd'hui" section of the Salon des arts ménagers. Paulin found his influences in Scandinavian furniture and in the American productions of Charles Eames and Florence Knoll. In 1954, the company Thonet France began to publish Pierre Paulin's furniture. In 1958, the furniture publishing house Artifort, based in Maastricht, decided to focus on contemporary furniture and assembled a team of designers, including Pierre Paulin. From 1960 to 1970, Pierre Paulin developed a range of chairs for Artifort made of moulded wooden shells filled with Pirelli foam and covered with prefabricated covers in stretch fabric, with soft, rounded shapes and bright colours. Among these iconic chairs: Mushroom Model No. 560, (1960), Tongue chair Model No. 577, (1967), Ribbon chair Model No. 582, (1966).

Set of 2 Aquilon teak armchairs by Pierre Guariche, Les Huchers-Minvielle, 1960 Rare Aquilon furniture by Pierre Guariche Pierre Guariche (1926 - 1995) is one of the legendary French designers of the 1950s, who left his mark on his era with purely aesthetic, functional and accessible pieces. A graduate of the École nationale supérieure des Arts décoratifs, he published his first designs on his own, including the famous Rotaflex lamp, which he exhibited at the Salon des Arts ménagers and then at the Salon des Artistes décorateurs. It was a great success with the public, and soon attracted the interest of publishers. Pierre Guariche went on to create furniture, lighting and decorative objects for Airborne, Pierre Disderot and Steiner. In 1954, he also joined forces with decorators Michel Mortier and Joseph-André Motte, with whom he founded the Atelier de recherche plastique. ARP went on to create furniture for Charles Minvielle's living room, dining room and bedroom. At the end of the 1950s, as artistic director of the Belgian furniture company Meurop, he gradually turned to interior design. In 1965, he was awarded the Prix René Gabriel. Pierre Guariche's original creations have become iconic pieces such as the Amsterdam chair...
