Antique American Federal Baltimore Painted Spindled Windsor Bench Settee 1820

About the Item

Fine & rare antique American half-spindled Federal period painted & stenciled Windsor bench/settee, Baltimore, Circa 1820. A rare bench with the original chrome yellow painted and grapevine stenciling, the back rest with three grapevine painted panels and corresponding painted panels on the rails below. The bench has a half row of spindles on three sides (a typical feature of Baltimore benches from this period) above a long plank seat and is raised on eight tapering legs joined by spindled stretchers. This bench is in remarkable shape after 200 years, all the paint and stenciling is present and the bench is structurally robust and ready to use in your home. No restoration or repair.
