Antique .The 18th Century Chaise Percée we have is of the same period of the Roi Louis XV and La Marquise de Pompadour. they were not made for the general public, that’s why it’s rare to find the 18th Century period. upholstered with Tiger print fabric
The chaise percée or the pierced chair known in France as “Chaise nécessaire”
It used to be in the “garde-robe” hence the “wardrobe chair” comes from.
That’s where the more euphemism and figure of speech to express what the Chaise percée was about in softening the reality. In the time of Madame de Pompadour they used to keep the chaise percée in The “Cabinet des Dépêches” . that room was normally very well decorated.
