Antique French Gilt and Carved 19th Century Cane Upholstered Bergere Armchair

About the Item

An antique, mid to late 19th century French cane and upholstered carved and gilt armchair. The armchair features carved and gilt floral swags around the caned back, running coin ornament decoration along the base, carved and decorated legs and arms. A beautifully designed chair with a removable, upholstered seat. The beautifully and intricately carved and gilt structure is complimented by the cane back and seat. The upholstered back, arm rests and removable seat are done so in a muted rust color. There are some nicks and chips to the gilding. There is an area on the back of the chair where the cane is broken and pushed in. There are some areas where the upholstery is not quite perfect. However, this chair comes awfully close.
