Pair of dining chairs by Joseph-Andre Motte the model 771 Tongue Chair reupholstered in tan suede. Black enameled steel base and legs. These chairs were designed in 1954 by Joseph-André Motte for Steiner France, as part of his series for Steiner. The 771 chairs were actually designed in conjunction with the 770 series.

The vintage velvet of the chairs is authentic, so it may have some defects due to its age but still in very good condition. Joseph-André Motte (1925 - 2013) was an interior architect and one of the great figures of French design in the 1950s and 1960s. At the École des arts appliqués à l'industrie (now ENSAAMA), he studied under René Gabriel, Louis Sognot and Albert Guénot, graduating top of his class in 1948.
