Low Back Chair / Stool in Solid Oak by Boyd & Allister
About the Item
This low back chair / stool in solid oak was inspired by a Pierre Chapo upholstered chair and originally made as a gift for my partner. I love the visual weight lended by the thickness and size of the seat juxtaposed with the sharp tapers of the legs which make it look like it wants to walk away. The half lapped cross style construction of the legs which sets the legs on a diagonal is both honest and interesting. The resolution of the back crest rail joining the legs set at diagonals is a testament to handwork and careful joinery; it is delicate and elegant and makes the chair special. We finish the chair in a natural oil and wax but can use a durable low sheen spray finish for a small upcharge. It is available in various woods.

Boyd & Allister
Boyd & Allister is a custom furniture studio located in Santa Fe, New Mexico. We have been hand making furniture for designers and architects around the country since 2010. We custom make each piece using traditional joinery methods and hand select each piece of wood. We source our wood from small sawyers around the country who bring the same level of care to their craft as we bring to ours. Many of our designs are inspired by mid century masters; timeless with clean lines, allowing the beauty of the wood to shine.
