Pair of Mid-Century Modern Egg Chairs with Unusual Wood + Nickel Legs
About the Item
A pair of beautiful Modernist red velvet upholstered egg chairs with unusual turned wood splay leg base ending in polished nickeled bronze sabots.
This organic chair shape is cradled in a womb-like soft velvet fabric and combines function and sculptural form.
The high back and winged arm design of the chair affords the seater privacy, yet interaction when desired.
It's natural, flowing and curvy shape is highly architectural, featuring a continuous whole form with clean and simple lines.
In the style of architect and designer Arne Jacobsen's egg chair, originally created in 1958 for the lobby and reception arears of the SAS Royal Copenhagen Scandinavian Hotel.
Leveling swivlers under sabot added later. Seat padding is firm.
Upper wing width is 31.5 , lower arm width is 28 3/4"
